PERUVIAN PASO EXHIBITION - one day introduction to the peruvian paso horse
Peru has declared the Peruvian Paso horse as Patrimonio Cultural, part of the national cultural heritage. Our one-day program will give you a chance to experience why this horse is so admired, and so essential to the Peruvian identity.
Your day at the ranch starts at 10:00 am, with coffee or tea, followed by a short tour of the premises and an introduction to our national horse. We will show you our breeding studs and working horses, our state-of-the-art nutrition system, and the inner workings of our riding operation. We will talk about the history of our breed, our equitation, and the importance of keeping our Peruvian equestrian traditions alive.
The tour of our ranch will be followed by a short video (of approximately 20 minutes) about the history and characteristics of our breed. Around midday we offer a demonstration of the Marinera, a graceful dance performed between the chalan (Peruvian horse trainer) on horseback and a beautiful female dancer. In this dance each partner demands from the other the same qualities that the chalan demands from the horse. To dance the Marinera on horseback requires a complete mastery by the chalan of the enfrenadura, a reining exercise that goes back to the 18th century. The dance demonstrates elegance, skill and a little bit of arrogance.
After the show we will enjoy a typical Peruvian parrillada (barbeque) with, of course, a Pisco Sour, our famous National coctail. For each guest we have a small ceramic bottle of Pisco as a gift and souvenir of this day.
Price per person: $75 (min. 4, max. 10).
