Geography

Peru is an extremely diverse country, with 11 ecological regions and 84 of the world’s 117 different types of “life zone”. It has a huge variety of scenery thanks to its geography, which also provides it with a wide range of natural resources. The country has 3 main regions according to the traditional method of dividing the country by altitude: coast, mountains and jungle.

Arrival in Lima, the “City of Kings” famous for its Spanish Colonial architecture, extraordinary museums and cuisine. Lima is internationally recognized as the “Gastronomic Capital of the Americas”, and its cuisine is considered among the most diverse and exquisite in the world on par with French cuisine. Upon arrival a host will meet and assist you in transferring to the hotel and in registering.

Tour the capital and largest city of Peru. Located in the valleys of the Chillón, Rímac and Lurín rivers, on a coast overlooking the Pacific Ocean, forms a contiguous urban area with the seaport of Callao. Among the ten largest in the Americas, and among the thirty largest in the world, Lima offers the sophistication of a modern and cosmopolitan city. Drive along the fashionable districts of Miraflores and San Isidro, El Parque del Amor (The Park of Love) and the striking beaches of Costa Verde. Tour includes a visit the fashionable Larcomar shopping center.

Dinner at Huaca Pucllana

The Huaca Pucllana Restaurant provides and an outstanding cuisine and enjoys a privileged location, it is practically on top of an ancient Inca Pyramid. In the Fifth century, the Lima valley inhabitants started the construction of the Huaca Pucllana. Under the management of sacred priests, the Huaca Pucllana was built as an expression of their religious authority and to control the hydrological resources stemmed from the water canal system, on the left bank of the Rimac river. Pucllana was an important ceremonial and administrative location. Its magnificence was reflected by the configuration of a monumental architecture.

Pachacamac Temples
and Peruvian Paso Horse Show

A drive along the Pan-American Highway with its views across the beautiful Pacific beaches will take you years back. Visit to the pre-Inca ruins of Pachacamac considered by many to be the most important archaeological site near Lima. Four hundred years before the Incas, the Ishmay culture developed a major ceremonial center, featuring streets, dozens of temples fitted with ramps and the Painted Temple.

Continue to a delightful demoznstration of the skills of the Peruvian Paso horse, a unique member of the horse kingdom. “Caballo de Paso” known worldwide for their smooth gaited movements and unusual spirit. No other horse combines strength, intelligence and beauty so perfectly as the Peruvian Paso Horse. The particular characteristic of the Paso Horse is precisely the reason for its name: the sublime charm of its typical step. As it walks, its front legs step very high and forward while the hooves sway to the sides in a graceful and synchronized movement.

On this tour stop by the famous Indian Market at Miraflores, where artisans sell beautiful Peruvian handicrafts, alpacawool sweaters and rugs, ponchos, pottery, gold and silver jewelry, leather goods, etc.

Visit and Dinner at Casa de Aliaga

The “Casa de Aliaga” is the oldest Colonial mansion in Jeronimo De liaga Ramírez, Captain of Spain and Admiral of the Seas was a co-founder of the city of Lima. He received a “solar” neighbor to Pizarro’s house, he started to build his house in 1535, which until today is home to the descendants of this conquistador. It is the oldest residence in America inhabited continuously by the same family. Due to its historic value this house was declared a Historical Monument and the owners have decided to share their heritage with visitors. It is one of the first original houses in Lima.

Its artistic value comes from the beauty of its spaces and the original distribution of them where different styles from Colonial and Republican times are represented in harmony. The Casa is absolutely beautiful, the balcony and inner patio are extraordinary and an imposing wooden staircase takes you to the graceful salons that are decorated with Colonial furniture. The visit is an amazing experience! Dinner includes hors d’ouvres, a fine selection of cocktails and three courses. It also includes wines, different options for teas and pousse café. Casa de Aliaga is the perfect venue for gourmet dinners and gala events.

Larco Museum

Visit the world famous Larco Museum - The Larco Museum, founded in 1926, displays remarkable chronological galleries providing an excellent overview on 3000 years of development of Peruvian pre-Columbian history. Located in a unique vice-royal mansion of the 18th century built over a 7th century pre-Columbian pyramid is surrounded by beautiful gardens. The Larco Museum also features the finest gold and silver collection from Ancient Peru and the famous erotic archaeological collection, one of the most visited Peruvian tourist attractions.

Mario Testino photography exhibition is in the attractive neighborhood of Barranco, which was the place to be in the 19th century and retains its laid-back charm today. Mario Testino is recognized as one of the world’s most influential photographers, well-known for his pictures of the British Royal family, famous actors and beauties for the greatest international magazines, his creative exhibitions and books.

From the day it opened, Cala has adopted a successful combination of stupendous cuisine, an excellent view of the sea, reasonable prices and a revitalized the menu with new and modern dishes that emphasize respect for the ingredients. An ideal place for lunch by the sea, while listening to the sound of the waves. Lunch is not included.

Visitors are impressed by the large variety of fishes and sea fruit showcased at our local market, try the local fruit and learn about our typical vegetables, followed by a demonstration of how to prepare our famous “Ceviche” at one of the leading seafood restaurants.
Continued with a guided visit to a Pisco tavern and cellar.
Learn how to prepare “Pisco Sour” and other Peruvian cocktails. You will have the chance to flavor our famous national drink, the Pisco in different presentations.

Magic Water Circuit

Late afternoon visit the Magic Water Circuit at Parque de la Reserva. This recently remodeled park boasts 12 beautiful water fountains that literally “dance” under an awesome choreography of music, lights and laser beams. This park is the pride of Lima and has been recognized by the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest water fountain park in the world. The 80-meter high water fountain is an impressive view.

Early morning transfer from the hotel to the airport for a short but spectacular flight over the snowcapped Andes to the oldest inhabited city in the hemisphere, Cusco, at an elevation of 11,440 feet.

Located a few meters away from the Plaza de Armas, Incanto is a cozy and contemporary restaurant with a touch of chic. Cusco City Tour and Nearby Ruins

Visitors are caught up in the excitement of touring the ancient capital of the Inca Empire, a delightful combination of Inca and colonial architecture. The tour visits important landmarks such us Cusco’s Cathedral, Plaza de Armas and Koricancha “The Temple of the Sun”. This tour of the oldest continuously inhabited city in the western hemisphere also includes the nearby ruins of Kenko, Puca-Pucara, Tambomachay as well as the Sacsayhuaman fortress, an imposing example of Inca military architecture.

This unique experience closes with a superb dinner at Monasterio’s renowned Tupay restaurant that offers internationally-inspired Peruvian cuisine in a captivating atmosphere. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays nights the romantic arches of El Tupay resonate with the operatic sounds of Cusco’s best tenor and soprano. Mondays and Wednesdays nights dinner is accompanied with live classical music. A “not-to-miss” opportunity to experience the splendor of a monastic dining room restored to full glory.

Archaeologists believe that the Inca “Virgins of the Sun” took refuge from the Spanish Conquistadors here. Guided tour of the ruins upon arrival. Lunch is at the Belmond’s Sanctuary Lodge located just a few steps from the Inca citadel. Lunch is included.

Perched 8,200 feet above the valley, it was hidden by mountains and semi-tropical jungles for 400 years until discovered by Hiram Bingham of Yale University in 1911.

Archaeologists believe that the Inca “Virgins of the Sun” took refuge from the Spanish Conquistadors here. Guided tour of the Sanctuary and plenty of free time to study the mysterious site.

Brunch and four-course dinner and cocktails are aboard the Hiram Bingham.

Afternoon “Tea Time Goodies” at the Belmond Sanctuary Lodge, located just a few steps from the Inca citadel is also included.
